Pseuicides have been fooling gullible dumbasses who lack critical thinking skills long before tumblr came around. Livejournal had a whole bunch of them. Even quizilla had a few...

Same with Usenet groups and message boards, too. I vaguely recall when someone on TheForce.net's message board did a psueicide and yeah... I don't remember the exact details, all I know is that it didn't end well at all.

It's just a lot more prevalent to some of us now, since a lot of the people who used those services now have migrated to Tumblr, and for a lot of the younger generation (or even late twenties) folks who are just now getting into fandom, Tumblr is one of the first social networks they use. Or something like that.
