I agree, and perfect choices of shows, especially House and Sliders (at least with HIMYM only the final sucked). Also, happy to see Sliders and Quantum leap in there.

I don't think it's even that unusual. I think that sentiment existed with quite a lot of X-Files fans back in the day, too. There's grace in knowing when to stop.

Yeah, I agree with you on the general sentiment. It sucks when a show is cancelled at first -in some cases-, but sometimes it ends up being for the best in hindsight. (At the very least, I'd rather they be allowed to wrap up any major plotlines, first)

Sometimes I have a hard time letting go of shows I love (so I'm disappointed when they get canceled even if the quality isn't what it used to be SGA), but I think you have a good point. It IS better to quit while you're ahead. (This is one reason that I'm glad Haven and Justified are ending soon-ish. I love both shows, don't think they're bad yet, but am kind of relieved they probably won't get the chance to be.)

I'm torn between wanting countless seasons of my favorite show and wanting it to end strong. It's my greatest fandom fear that it'll get dragged on and on to the point that I hate it.

I hate the system of letting shows go on and on until the ratings get low enough for the show to get cancelled. I'd much rather have more shows where the creators went in planning on a limited number of seasons to tell a strong story. I know why this isn't what happens most of the time, but I don't have to like it.

You know as much as I miss the shows I loved that got cancelled this is a very good point, at least I still have good memories of them.

I don't disagree with you, especially if the shows in the secret accurately represent your fandoms (wow have you had hard luck!) but often it's not so much the writers, as needless and tone deaf interference from studio heads who demand shows go in certain directions without even bothering to watch the show. TV writers take a lot of crap for decisions that have been forced upon them against their will.
