I totally didn't realize SPN had gotten a female angel character. Is she a regular or at least regularly recurring? I haven't watched since the first two episodes of season 7, but this makes me want to tune back in.

She's in the end of S9 and start of S10 so far. Not sure how long she'll be around, though.

I feel like most or at least many of the fans who say the show is sexist would agree that the fandom is sexist, just not they themselves. Have you seen anyone criticizing the show's sexism and Hannah at once?

I'm watching season nine now and it seems to me that all the female characters - victims, villains and allies- are as are strongly written as any of the men. But then again, while story lines have been less than perfect the characters have generally been equally drawn regardless of gender.

You know I've only seen two or three episodes of the show... the only one I saw on purpose was the Oz episode with Dorothy (being a big fan of the Oz Canon)... Now I don't want to go back cause I ship Felicia Day's character with Dorothy Hard, Don't want to see that ruined by having her get with one of the brothers or something (not sure if there was any relationship dynamic there).

Charlie was established as a lesbian (she gets a makeout scene, even) and as a little sister to the brothers, especially Dean, well before that episode, so don't be afraid to watch the others. She gets one about her backstory that's really touching.

I'm not watching the show, but I've seen people defending her on my tumblr dash and she looks awesome. Sitting around trying to troll dumb fans while ignoring more nuanced criticisms would be a pretty unimpressive writing decision, hopefully there's more to it than that.

I liked her a lot in the latter part of S9, but I've been really disappointed with what they're doing with her in S10 so far. It's not Destiel related - but I'm just so bored with the 'Angels learning to appreciate humanity' angle.

I liked her being all 'more Angel than thou' and I hate that she's gotta fall into this gushy romance trap. When she wanted to track down those two rogue angels for the good of heaven? Cool. All of the one angel's arguments about humanity and freedom didn't make a dent in her beliefs. Smiting her brethren righteously? Not a blink. And then... barely a day later she suddenly starts having this big ol' mushy human crush on Cas and gets all un-Angelic. Ugh. So aggravating.

Yeah, this. I hate that they need to bring romance into everything. She'll probably die for Cas angst by the end of the season too. Ugh.

Even if it's not deliberate, it's entertaining to believe it is.

Sadly, since no female character tends to live longer than a season, tops, I don't hold out much hope for her.

Are you serious.? Jo, Ellen, Lisa, Jodie Mills, Anna, Charlie, Tessa, Pamela (I think), Mrs. Tran, Becky...

Jo, Ellen, Anna and Tessa are dead (Jo and Anna very likely due to fan backlash re: their relationships with Dean in particular).

None of the others have lasted more than a handful of episodes, and with the exception of Lisa, none of them were ever going to be romantic potential because That Doesn't Happen On Supernatural (or, as above, that character will inevitably be killed off).

You say "none of the others have lasted" and I don't know what your point is regarding Jodie, Lisa, and Charlie. They're not dead. The door to come back isn't closed ( you could *maybe* say it is for Lisa, but it's still not, really), and they've all been around for multiple seasons. And no part of the secret, my comment or the comment I replied to said anything about romance, but my that's a pretty strawman you built.

Anna was originally meant to replace Cas. Cas was supposed to die, and Anna was supposed to be Dean's new angel guide. It's probably because

a. Penis
b. Cas's storyline was more interesting from a storytelling standpoint
d. Anna and Dean didn't have a ton of chemistry
c. Penis

I'm just about done with this show but I hope they hook up. I really do. Party because I hate Derpstiel but mostly because they'd be cute together. It'll make the sheeple angry too which will be hella funny.
