(Anonymous) 2014-10-31 12:11 am (UTC)(link)There's some BNF sway, sure...but especially in the age of AO3, I don't think it is quite as powerful. Readers often surf in on tags, characters, or particular interests these days. In a less community-based model, I think BNFs just hit something a sufficiently large number of people do find appealing for reasons that are not quality-based.
