(Anonymous) 2014-10-31 01:35 am (UTC)(link)For me, though, I'm really put off by parts of her fan base that insist that you're racist or sexist or expressing misogynoir if you don't like her. Or even if you like her but just don't like her relationship with Spock.
They're a minority. But they're a vocal one. To each their own but it does get a little trying when you write out and try to analyze where you think the writers fell short with her (in your personal estimation) and then have people swoop in and completely ignore your reasoning to call you a bigot.
I'm a bit ashamed to admit this, but the behavior by some of those people definitely exacerbated my dislike of Saldana's Uhura.
