I see nothing wrong with OP being sensitive and empathetic, but a lot wrong in OP being all 'everybody who is less sensitive and empathetic than me is HEARTLESS and CRUEL and KILLS SMALL ANIMALS WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT how could they oh no im cry now', which is essentially what she's going on about and why so many people are taking issue with her post.

What I want to know is, is it morally okay with the poster then for people to exterminate rats or termites or whatever if they do feel bad about it? It's the feeling bad part that matters, not the deaths? Or is it the deaths that matter and so the people should feel so bad they never do it, even if it's practical and the rats and termites are causing massive damage? Or if people have to do it then they should feel bad or else they're weird inhuman unfeeling monsters so the poster is wanting people to feel worse about something they have to do anyway? A lot of this is kinda confusing

Oh, I agree that that's a terrible mindset. I didn't quite get that from their post, but if that's what they were saying they do then I think that does go beyond being just sensitive.

What I got from the post was just that they found it upsetting to listen to people being blasé about killing animals, and that they don't like to look at dead animals, and they don't understand why they're so overly upset by these things, which sounded pretty normal to me. But I can see how I could have interpreted it wrong.

They aren't doing themselves any favors with the whole "how could anyone feel differently from me and not care about this horrible terrible thing???" thing. It's giving their post a definite tone of revulsion at people who seem blase.

I think there's a certain amount of both going on, tbh. The part that you describe is perfectly reasonable and normal. But I think there's also an extra element of self-righteousness for which OP seems to be seeking validation.
