Nope, I sure as hell don't do this. If I like the story, I'll leave comments and kudos. If it sucks, I back button the fuck out. Why would I want to encourage shitty writing? It makes no sense.

The phenomena has less to do with encouraging shitty writing as it does the ones doing it trying to ingratiate themselves with people they think are important. So obviously the ones who write the fics with most reviews, even if those fics are godawful.
