Men generally prefer visual things (art, movies). And in regards to what I was saying above, most men enjoy lesbian porn art. This isn't about stories, it is about what fantasy pairing (threesome) you find most sexually pleasing. That is why lesbian porn is so popular.

But the argument that of course straight women want to watch/read about men is used to explain why things with mostly male characters are so popular outside of porn too.

Also, I think people tend to exaggerate how much of fanfic is porn, but I don't really feel like having that argument right now.

Isn't it more about fandom? I mean, isn't it that the juggernaut fandoms tend to be a female-dominated spaces, so what we see in fandom reflects female rather than male tastes? I come from a family where all the men prefer stories about women -- my late father loved Pride and Prejudice, my brother, P1, likes kick-ass women, my other brother, P2, likes elegant women -- so I've never believed the whole 'men only watch/read stories about macho men' business.

I don't know, I'm getting mixed up now.

Brain fog is fun. :/
