Or perhaps you're only seeing one side of the story?

It's natural for your friends to mostly hold the same opinions so the chances of seeing the full argument are small unless you deliberately trawl the tags looking for opposing opinions.

I admit to having thought the same as the OP, way back for Irene Adler on BBC Sherlock. All my tumblr feed was full of was this kind of stuff which to me seemed preemptive and hysterical. It wasn't until months later that I saw the kind of posts that had provoked those I saw, and then I understood I'd been wrong.
