Ugh. Civil War. Still not over my annoyance that its horribleness is now going to corrupt the MCU as well.

I don't know. Most of Civil War's awfulness came from its particulars and the way it was executed, not from the premise. The premise was fairly interesting and could work in the MCU if the actual actions and events within the story don't devolve into the OOC nonsensical logicfail that was the comics story.

Although WHY anyone would want to write it in the MCU when the heroes are all just starting to get to know each other and there are way better and more interesting stories to tell about this aspect of the universe rather than some Civil War scenario, is anyone's guess...

you can see them building toward it already, so I think the setup is going to be fine, and I'm interested to see how it plays out.

nayrt

I actually suspect they probably won't do a full-on version of Civil War -- they'll probably do something that touches on some of the themes of Civil War. Like how they did "Extremis" in Iron Man 3 totally differently from the comics story, although it had some of the same concepts and ideas.

Maybe the right side will win this time.

Pretty sure nobody really won in Civil War.

Especially once Tony deleted his brain.

I have high hopes, actually, and I say this as someone who regularly shits on Marvel's comics (but their movies are awesome.) The big problem is that A) Mark Millar is an asshole and B) Marvel never can follow through on their promises. They swore up and down that Civil War was going to look at both sides of the issue, but instead they decided anti-registration was the heroic side and threw Tony's characterization under the bus (again) so they could do yet another ham-fisted and lopsided portrayal.

The movies have been consistently better than the comics (except for most of the X-Men movies, but to be honest X-Men's comics have been among both the best and worst things Marvel's ever put out) so I'm pretty sure the MCU avoid most of the comics' mistakes regarding Civil War the way they do with everything else Marvel's ever written.
