Agreed. FWIW, I'd be turned off by the needy attitude a long time before I was turned off by the blandness. Blandfic is not a dealbreaker for most people, but whiny authors can be. Fact is the blandness can be worked on -- and even fixed, but definitely improved upon -- if you're receptive. The fact that you've already turned off your readers by being whiny... not so much.
