If they were talking about shit w/o spoiler warnings in general comments within 24 hours of airing, that was wrong of them to do, and against what the general norms of the community are. It doesn't justify anyone else spoiling vindictively.

Neither does a situation where people are talking about things w/o warnings months after their initial release but before they're released in certain markets - because they're fundamentally dissimilar situations. This is a spoiler warning for something released today. Shit, there's probably a non-trivial number of fans in the original market who hadn't watched it when the post was made.

Like, I'm sorry if other people have been dicks in the past. I feel comfortable taking a universal anti-dick attitude. Being a dick is a bad thing and people shouldn't do it. That is my position.

If there are a large number of postings with unmarked spoilers in a community then obviously avoiding spoilers is not outwith the community norms. Unless you are going to pull the "all anons are the same anon" crap, which is prima facie bullshit.

Where are these large number of posts? Most of the discussions in GC that I've seen have taken place under a post that warns for spoilers. And when spoilers are not warned for, it usually seems to be by people who are purposely being dicks and trying to prove some sort of point.

That's not necessarily the case at all. If people are posting unmarked spoilers for Casablanca, that does not indicate that posting unmarked spoilers for the episode of Happy Happy Fun Time Adventure that aired an hour ago is within community norms. Or to give another hypothetical example, if people are posting unmarked spoilers and being heavily criticized for it, that would be another indicator that it is outside of community norms.

If non-controversial recent spoilers are roaming free and wild across the comm, then yes, obviously that would be evidence that it's within community norms. That has not been my experience at all.
