I have so much school work I need to be doing - books to be read, research to do, papers to write... and I decided it was a great time to replay the Dragon Age series before the next game comes out. I just beat Dragon Age Origins again yesterday (and did like, every possible side quest) and now I'm on Awakening. After that, 2, and then I'm ready for Inquisition!

...I feel so accomplished, but that's the exact opposite of what I should be feeling.

What are you doing that's definitely not what you're supposed to be doing?

I am opening up season 2 of The Walking Dead game. And then getting angry because of how long the cut scene is and closing it because I don't have time for that. I'll never finish this damn game.

I don't think TWD is for you, if you can't stand cutscenes. Considering it's basically an interactive TV show...

I enjoy it. And I love the cut scenes. I just hate how if you have to stop in the middle of the game after watching a whole cutscene and doing some of the pointing/clicking, it makes you go through the whollllleeeeeee cutscene again.

That's why I always make sure I have a couple hours free before I sit down and do an episode.

And I force myself to wait 'til the next day to do the next episode.

I got into that Flight Rising game, and also playing A Dark Room for the second time.

Flight Rising. Mostly just Flight Rising. Super addictive, and I'm training dragons for my team's future dominance efforts.

Gravity Falls. I haven't even been knitting while watching it, and I have so many Christmas presents to make.

Downloading all the books... but not reading any.

It goes "omg this book looks good... and this series.. and this series.. and this series..."

*Puts on e-reader*

*Never reads them*

Sigh.

I just started FFXIII, and I love it! I feel like it took about five hours for the combat system to really open up, but that's a hell of a lot better than the 20-hour figure that keeps getting thrown around. Plus I already like two of the four characters the fandom loves to talk about how much they hate. (Lightning and Hope, for the record. Lightning proves that Squenix actually learned from why Squall sucked, and Hope is pretty badass for a teenage tourist who's never used a real weapon before.)

Haha, I'm the same way with Dragon Age. I started my last Origins play-through earlier this year, stopped at the Deep Roads because I fucking hate the Deep Roads, and started back up again about a month (or so) ago. I finished it (with all the post-game DLC plus Awakenings), and now I'm on Act II of Dragon Age 2. I'm doing the DA2 DLC for the first time as well, and I'm setting up my world states on Dragon Age: Keep. I'm all in; most of my free time has been devoted to Dragon Age for the past month... (And I've been going to bed later and later lately, and I'm really damn tired. Curse you, Dragon Age. CURSE YOU.)

NGL, I'm kind of scared of Inquisition considering how much time I've wasted on DA: Origins and DA2, since Inquisition is even longer.

I need to give that series another go. I fell out of interest about halfway through the first one.

Not sure if I should encourage you or not...

Origins is one of my favorite RPG's, but as fond of it as I am, some of the main quests/arcs are incredibly frustrating and repetitive. (The Deep Roads, The Fade...)

I still think it's worth a shot (or multiple shots, given my history with it) for the variety of choices, customization, story-telling and relationships, but it's a time-waster. Such a massive, massive time-waster. I've probably spent 600 hours on both games and their DLC...

Part of the problem is that I never cared for the Infinity Engine (or to be less polite, I fucking hate it and all the games that use it) and later engines that mimick it, like Dragon Age's, don't endear me very much. Nor am I the biggest fan of fantasy anyway...

Ah, well if your problem is with the engine and the genre I don't see much overcoming it.

It's BETTER than Infinity Engine, at least...

I've just read the entirety of Jessie Saxby's "Joseph Bell M.D. An appreciation by an old friend" in one go instead of writing an important work.

Fuck the important work in question. This book is gorgeous. On that note, I don't know if the librarian anon who gave me such awesome advice is still around, but if you chance to read this comment, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION RE:INTERLIBRARY LOANS.

Playing through the Aliens FPS games. I finished up Alien vs Predator 1999 the other day... I'd post my review like I have for the earlier games but I don't think anyone'll care.

Playing the K otome game. I don't even like otome games and it's in Japanese so I can't even understand half of it (though on the bright side it's actually giving me some pretty decent Japanese practice) and yet I keep going back to it. I figure at the very least hopefully I can get some decent screenshots out of it.

Going to work. LOL

Replaying Dragon Age is exactly what I've been doing to waste time, even though I should be doing constructive things. I might take a break between finishing Awakening and starting DA2 to play Darksiders II or something, who knows.
