This is actually a pretty sound advice. It's weird that you enjoy romance in other media but not in TV shows/films, and there probably are some reasons for this that you are not aware of.

I don't think it's weird necessarily, as different mediums approach different subject differently (by nature). But it is strange that OP can come to hate a character for simply being involved in a romance, and that OP has such an aversion that even the slightest suggestion of romance makes a show/movie unwatchable.

I think that the contrast is a big part of it. Like, if they disliked romance in any shape or form, such a reaction would not surprise me. But it's weird that they like in theory but have such issues with the smallest hints of it when it comes to TV and cinematograph.

(my comment was sloppily worded, tbf.)

It's more that I can't escape it in the fandom. It's canon het so no one feels the need to tag anything when they post gifs and I can barely go a day without someone posting them sucking face. I get to where I resent the characters because I can't be in the fandom and not see it over and over again.

Going by that, you'd also hate romancey fanart from book fandoms. No?

Fanart doesn't move. I suppose if they were posting fan animations of a book it might bother me, but it's the video aspect.
