After all, we all have to do the wading through shit to some extent, so where would you draw the line? I don't particularly like AU fics, does that mean they should be in an archive by themselves too?

No. I suck it up, realize that my taste does not dictate the whole of fandom, and move on to something I do like to read.

I remember there being what seemed like a sizable group on here that hated AU fic in the same way OP hates shipping. They were the 'get out of my fandom' types who thought it should be banned and gave people shit for liking it.
