On the off chance that you're not just fishing for reactions, I'm going to politely disagree with you on the basis that sometimes people want to read shippy fic, and I for one would have no idea how to even begin looking for the personal journals and tumblrs of those who write it and are brave enough to share it.

I feel like it's not that brave to write something the majority of people are into.

It's incredibly brave to post anything as personal and subjective as writing publicly.

Just because you may be writing in a popular genre doesn't guarantee your work will be well received.

An even larger majority of people are into sex, but I'm still really embarrassed about talking about that on the internet, even though a lot of others are open about it in a way I'd like to be.
