The point you decide to use it. Lbr, they're really handy for describing your preferences to another person, regardless of connotations. However, it's entirely fair not to want to identify (do you identify?) with a label they don't feel fits them for whatever reason whether the aspect of belonging to it as a group, the term, or whatever. "I'm not interested in sex" seems to be enough imo. Others are going to make their presumptions without your input ("snowflake asexual"; "closet case"), and that's kind of on you to ignore it or not.
