Maybe he does and maybe he doesn't, but he still doesn't fit the secret's description. Ferris is the most popular guy at school, Sloane's nuts about him as he's nuts about her, so there's no bitterness about not "having" her. IIRC, Ferris is nice to everyone at school including kids outside his social circle... how many popular guys from high school do you remember who were like that? He tries his best to cheer up his best friend and never makes him feel like a third wheel, and is perfectly willing to take the blame for Cameron accidentally crashing the car at the end of the movie AND fixes his relationship with his sister.

I dunno. He seems fine to me.

In real life, the most popular people in any social group, including high school, are the ones who are nice and friendly toward everyone. That's very nearly what the word popular MEANS.

Popular =/= universally liked. I also hate to shatter your illusions, but in my high school (which was assuredly real life), the popular guys were athletes or came from families with money. They were nice and friendly to other athletes and people whose families had money... which left a whole lot of people they weren't as nice to.
