Probably for the same reason why it's hard for people who say "just don't read it!" to understand that anything and everything Rowling says, does or writes that is Harry Potter related will be widely reported on everywhere, so you hear about it whether you're interested in it or not.

So? I'm pelted with celebrity news stories whenever I hit up yahoo. I just don't click.

I will never understand whiny internet users whole "I can't STAND having to scroll past this thing I don't like it's so haaaard". Talk about first world problems.

You don't have to click to read the full article when the title alone is something like "ROWLING SAYS DUMBLEDORE IS GAY!"

Oh noes, there was a headline about something, everything is ruined forever!

Fucking shit, get over it. You're going to have to see things in life sometimes that don't interest you or that you'd rather not see. Instead of blaming other people for the fact that you can't handle that, why not stop being a little bitch and figure out how to deal with reality?

AYRT

Where is this "everywhere?" Because the only place I ever hear about any of this stuff is here. Seriously. I wouldn't even know she was doing more HP stuff if it wasn't for FS.

Not the OP but I have to say the Umbridge thing definitely came up (just before she released the content):

On the BBC Breakfast News (I watch for the traffic before work), then on the news on Classic FM, then mentioned by people at work, who had heard it on the news, the news again when I got home and in the meantime of course the usual places on my phone, texts from family asking if it was relevent to my interests, twitter, friends' facebook posts and so on.

Yep. I guess it's easier to avoid if you don't have any friends/family who are interested in Harry Potter, don't read much news or pop culture blogs or anything like that. But I heard ALL about Umbridge and everything else Rowling does in the HP universe even though I never went looking for that info.

I feel the same way about the Kardashians and yet, strangely, am able not to care about those stories.

If you're not interested, don't click. See how easy that is?
