I sort of understand. I get the issue of baiting, but at the same time I feel you.

Mostly my issue is that most canon ships that have lgbtq characters are depicted horrendously. They fuck it up. So it's easier to have just fanfiction/fanart etc where actual lgbt people are writing/drawing it and it's depicted more sensitively.

But in reality I think it's better to have representation–– just not shitty representation. I think if you explained it more like this then people wouldn't call you out on it. On the other hand, if you would still prefer that it weren't depicted at all (even sensitively) then yeah you're probably an asshole.
