Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'm curious if I talk too much about my fandom or if anyone even realizes there seems to be only one anon bringing it up.

So, do you suspect only one anon is responsible for all the talk of a certain fandom (which fandom?) and does it bug you?

(No, I'm not saying which fandom it is.)

Re: Anon identification

It's obvious the random specific anime threads are posted by one person because they keep using the same grammar and syntax + whatever the latest fad meme is.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
They're all straight /a/ memes, so could easily be a couple people doing it.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Not unless they all type and sound like the same anon.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I also wonder how much trolling that person or group of people does, just because those are often phrased kinda provocatively and obviously /a/ is not exactly alien to trolling.

IDK, just makes me wonder.

I actually started the low-effort AOTS thread about Shingeki no Bahamut just so other people would watch it. The other anon almost always includes a picture.

And it worked!

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
No, but I feel the same way when I talk about my fandoms.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I felt that way until a couple weeks ago, when a vague secret was posted and a bunch of anons thought it was referring to my fandom. Now I feel a little better. But I still get anxious when I think about bringing it up.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I can understand why it seems reasonable to think that it's one person behind all talk of X fandom or X subject, but having been on the other side before, sometimes I KNOW for fact that there's more than one person enthusing about whatever. Really, it's a little silly how people insist on believing that oh no, only one person on all of FS likes ______.

(I'm not talking about troll anons here.)

I don't know, I don't give it any thought, and it doesn't really bother me either way. ~ So you submit a lot of secrets about a certain fandom. I don't think that's fatal: it's not like we get 8 secrets at a time about "Fandom X."

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I feel that way whenever I talk about my main fandom. It's an older series that most people have moved on from, and I think I'm the only one here that has it as a current/main fandom.

I also feel this way whenever I talk a bit about obe of my OTPs and favorite character from a different fandom.

JSYK, yes, the anon who occasionally starts threads about baseball here IS the OP of the sorting secret.

Haha, awesome. Go, baseball!anon, go!

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
There are some other baseball!anons that come out every so often! I just start threads because I like to talk about it. There are anons that have mentioned supporting the Giants, Mariners, Astros, Rangers, BoSox, Mets, Cardinals, and I think Brewers.

Plus off the top of my head Stella supports the A's, cushlamochree the Giants, Gina the Angels, and Philstar the BoSox. There are some other named users as well.

AL West represents quite well on F!S, apparently.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's not about fandom, but there's one anon (who's in a thread below right now) I can always identify by their use of "mu- muh" and usually something about privilege.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Ha. I think of that anon as weird typo troll anon - like, do they proofread their posts? The comment box has spellcheck built in ffs. Unless that's part of the troll act for them? Ugh, I have thought too much about this.

Noticeable typos do make it easier to avoid their posts though.

I think all the Transformers secrets are one person. Doesn't bother me though.

I think it's cute that there are single fandom stans here - for instance, I love that dreemy (I think it's her) is obsessed with all things Murder Rooms and posts about it a lot.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I think one person did successfully associate some of my secrets a while back. I had just gotten into Transformers Prime and had made several secrets about it, and they commented that it seemed like one person was making all of these. (I never did one about the movies, though. Or about my raging lust for Optimus Prime. Those weren't me.)

I honestly don't notice. When I get a sense of deja-vu it's usually when I'm talking to an anon about one of my own fandoms, so that doesn't count.

I don't assume that there's a single person who posts about this or that because F!S has it's fair share of users and most series seem to have more than one (or two) fans. (Even the smaller ones.)

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the only person who ever seems to bring up certain shows, or so it seems, so I'm beginning to think people have figured out it's me.

Re: Anon identification

(Anonymous) 2014-11-07 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. I know I've never seen anything about my fandom from anyone but me.

It's pretty much always the same troll who tries to reverse-troll topics about feminism, as far as I can tell. They use the same phrases over and over.
