Emotional support is important even when the trouble is physical or financial. It's hard to watch as the people you care about suffer but don't dismiss what you're able to do. Obviously I can't speak for your friends, but often the words my friends use aren't the important thing when I need their support. The important thing is just knowing that someone cares enough to respond when I'm in trouble.
