General Comments topics or conversation topics in general?

If we're talking conversation topics...

- Mundane everyday stuff, though I mostly see this on the internet (especially LJ and Facebook). I seriously don't care that you went to the grocery store or dropped your kids off at soccer. I really don't. If that's the most interesting thing you have to say, find someone else to say it to. It's fine when it's an icebreaker, but as an actual conversation topic? No thanks.

- Cancer. My Mom has it, and a lot of people I know have had it and some of them have died from it. Naturally, not what I want to think about when I'm channel surfing, at the movies, just hanging out with friends. And yet every single commercial, every other person, every other movie trailer or advertisement before the movies wants to bring up cancer. I already know cancer exists. Please stop reminding me. Thanks.

I'm sorry about your mom. That's rough and I can relate.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I can relate. Three family members (including my mom) have died from cancer and yet all I see are commercials about cancer survivors and it makes me rage.
