I only just stumbled over Naruto six months ago or so, and I'm afraid to share any of my thoughts about it because everyone says it's shitty and I don't want them to laugh at me. So I feel you, OP.

Eh, don't be afraid to share your thoughts. There's still a ton of people who enjoy the manga as a whole. The Naruto fanbase is fucking huge.

While I'm.not a huge fan of Part 2 myself, I'd be willing to hear your thoughts.

I love Naruto. I have been following it for 12 years. Haters can kiss my ass. People hate it? Then quit watching/reading it.

I don't want you to feel that way! I complain about its flaws because there's so much I loved about it; if it was just out-and-out awful, I wouldn't care, and I think a lot of us incessant whiners are that way. Part 1 gets the most respect, but even Part 2 has its amazing moments, like Kushina and Minato's final moments almost made me cry. It's a great manga for all its shortcomings, and I'll miss it.

share away! I have a great fondness for the series, flaws and all. Whether people like the way it ended or not, you've got to give the story credit. That was - what? a fifteen year run? That's a lot of dedication and a lot of people that enjoyed it over the years.

You wouldn't be wrong to love it. It was good...at first. It gets worse and worse the further you read into it until the boring ending that finally puts it out of its misery.

Mostly what fans are referring to are years of resentment and disappointment. You're actually lucky to be reading it now, you don't have to wait years for it to drag on into a miserable end. Besides a shit ton of people absolutely love this series and think the ending is perfect. So I'm not really sure what the big deal is. The fanbase is thoroughly divided on this manga in general, but either way you aren't alone in how you view it.

It's been around forever, so like most manga/anime is has ups/downs, arcs people consider the "golden era", and arcs that people think signalled "the end" etc.

There's a lot of great stuff in Naruto ... and a lot of not-that-great stuff, as well.
