This is the thing, though - spell check DOES exist! Problem solved. Except for people who can't be arsed to use it. And while it doesn't automatically know proper names, you can add the correct spelling of them to your computer's dictionary, in which case, problem solved again.

And you can add or remove autocorrect options on top of that. Which is why I don't have to spend half of my fic-writing time going back and correcting all the times I referred to a character as "Nahtan" because my fingers are faster than my brain.
