I think either way I'll probably be more pleased with Inquisition than DAII (though I don't hate it like some people) because I haven't been following it that closely. I know a (tiny, tiny) bit about the companions, I vaguely know what the plot is about and I know it's supposed to be open world, but my expectations are lower this time. As long as the companions are likable, there's plenty to do, half the quests aren't fetch quests and 70% of the environments aren't recycled (which I think BioWare said they fixed?) I'll probably be okay. (Now the plot idek, but I can only hope that it isn't a train-wreck because I want to trust BioWare again.)

I've been following every detail, and one thing I can tell you for sure is that the environments are amazing. One area in Inquisition is bigger than the whole of DA2 and DA:O combined - not an exaggeration. The companions have a wide range of personalities and motivations (and there's a lot of them, so it's very unlikely you won't find someone to like), and all the quests, even the minor ones, are linked to one important goal. So the story and environments seem very promising.

Just about the only thing that gives me pause is the complete gameplay overhaul. Combat is a whole new experience with new rules, not all of them appealing to me, but none have been dealbreakers, either. Difficulty seems better balanced, at least.

Bioware seems really proud of this game and are showing it off at every opportunity. Their confidence makes me optimistic.

That's nice to hear at least! I remember reading that Inquisition won't have traditional healing spells and that fucked me up, but as long as we still have potions and other ways to protect ourselves (I heard about the shield skills that give you two life bars) then I guess I'll adapt. Hopefully the game-play is solid...

Ugh, I can barely believe how repetitive the environments in DAII were, so even if the story isn't my favorite (which it might be, who knows) just having something different to look at will be a major improvement. What you mentioned about minor quests is exciting, too. It all sounds great, I just hope they can pull off the execution. The Keep is pretty awesome so far too, so at least we shouldn't have to worry about save game glitches.
