Yeah, rabies vaccine is typically only administered if you have an occupation that places you at high risk for exposure, or if you were recently bitten by an animal who has rabies or who is suspected of having rabies.

It's not put into the stomach anymore, though. You get several doses (over the course of a couple of weeks) in the arm or leg. You might still get rabies after getting the vaccine, but you're a hell of a lot less likely to, and you're almost guaranteed a painful death if you actually do get rabies, so...
