I feel you. But honestly, I can overlook the weird hair because he's so damn attractive.

Oh you should! I didn't bother with bikes before Yowamushi Pedal but now I am hooked! And not to mention the diverse cast and diffrent bodytypes among the bikers. (Kinda rare in sportanimes...)

He's consistently colored that way in both the manga and the anime, so it's safe to assume that's his intended hair color.

Actually, it is canon that he lacks taste in fashion. So he finds it fancy to dye his hair like this...

His hair is ridiculous, but I really like when characters have moles on their face and they're presented as attractive; I'm super self conscious about mine.

What annoys me is how un-aero his hair is. Of all the cycling silliness of Yowapeda, it's the unareo hair that gets me the worst. Still love it, though. Especially the dude with the muscles named for Fabian Cancellara and Andy&Frank Schleck. I hope he names a muscle after Jens Voigt at some point. Really bring the team together.

His hair is much shorter in the manga. I think the anime team made it longer because it really distinguishes him from the other characters.

"cute character" is being used very loosely I suppose

most yowapeda characters are barely human looking though so I guess he's all right

I like his weirdo hair. I feel like it works somehow for Makishima (especially considering his special fashion sense). Anyway I'm sure Toudou finds it attractive.

Within the canon it's pretty ground in that his taste in fashion is bizarre even to other characters.

And iirc, he was made to be intentionally super weird in general and yet he ended up being one of the most popular in the fandom. He's endearing in a lot of other ways that come together enough to look past his looks, imo... I used to think green hair was the worst but with his guy it's suddenly gorgeous.

You really have to hand it to incredible fanartists, too.

Ha, I love his hair! When we found out he originally had brown hair and only started dyeing it in high school, lots of fan artists tried drawing him with brown hair and I was soo not into it ://

Try watching it, though, I think it really works for him as a character.
