Has it changed fanart in any noticeable way?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Fanart doesn't challenge the original in any direct or meaningful way, so it's tolerated. No one is going to mistake your slash fanart for e.g. official Disney art.

When you're talking about fanfiction that changes, elaborates upon, or otherwise takes someone else's copyrighted canon as theirs and asks for monetary renumeration for it, then it's a much hazier area and one that's going to be easier for big companies to go after.

~literature~ is troo art and not comparable to those inferior line drawings

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Either you're a troll, or too stupid to read.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Fanart doesn't challenge the original in any direct or meaningful way" way reeks superiority and is provably false. Additionally, imitations of the official style is often popular in fan circles and have been mistaken for official works.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Please read the whole sentence in context. If you literally mistake gay porn of Disney princessess as being something the company would officially release then I'm gonna stick with my assessment of "stupid".

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
That's just one type of fanart though. Unoffical works have been mistaken for offical and companies generally do not like that.

Also please look at Disney and their relationship with copyright before you spout more bullshit.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Also lol when your gay porn fanfic is challenging the canon in a direct and meaningful way.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Except no one actually said that. You inferred it. For whatever insecure reasons you might have.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Butthurt artist is butthurt.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Assming you're ayrt, looks like you're not willing to further engage with me, so you're trying to discredit me by criticizing my jokey throwaway line. Alright.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
DA, but it's pretty easy to claim "oh it was just jokey!" when you're called out.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
True. I wasn't really expecting a response, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, you're pretty paranoid in general aren't you?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Not really.

Defensive, though.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
No shit.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-10 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Disney for one will have things taken off of etsy for sure with threats to sue.
