SHE FUCKED A CANDLE AND GAVE US WESLEY CRUSHER. But other than that, I'm sure she's lovely.

Kinda feel like it's a little unfair to blame her for either of those. It was the writers who did it.

Bev deserved to get some! I will never hold Candle Guy against her!

Candle-guy was messing with her brain chemistry, wasn't he? Candle-guy pretty much raped her. And I'm sure she thought that Wes would work out a lot better than he did. Its a cautionary tale for 24thC women, lay off the synthehol while pregnant and don't stand too close to the warp core.

The best thing about Bev though, she wasn't Troi. Bev took command of the Enterprise more than once and at no point did she ever crash it into a planet. Nor did her advice drive fellow crewmembers into murderous rage, not even once.

The candle brainwashed her.

There was a ~~ghost~~ "energy being" who lived in her grandmother's antique heirloom candle who kind of brainwashed her with telepathic sexxoring to feed off her life-force. Or something.

Well, it WAS season seven...

That...is mind-boggling.

That script pitch came after the writers scored some primo grade weed, I imagine.

At first, I thought those two things were in sequence (first, candle, then Wesley), and it did not compute.

Proof that Jean-Luc's not Waxist! He has candle friends.

Makes perfect sense to me. A candle is a pale, waxy, inert object that women used to use for sexual gratification. I'm more than willing to believe that's Wesley's real father.

I do this a lot too. I start feeling bad about how disliked a character is and then I end up liking them.

Honestly I don't really have anything against the character. It's the actress I have problems with. Gates McFaddon's acting just really got on my nerves sometimes.

I never saw anything particularly bad about her acting. Counselor Troi, on the other hand...

Beverely is awesome.

Crusher is the greatest. Or rather, can be the greatest. Sometimes she's given really dumb stuff to do. But her funny scenes are so great, and she has this really...captivating quality somehow. I don't know why. It's not the actress, because the actress wasn't all that good, but the character just sometimes has this je ne sais quoi. It's strongest in "Remember Me" and "Cause and Effect." Her potential feels greater than the sum of her scenes, if that makes any sense.

I have this same problem. I swear all the female characters that I adore, most people hate and the ones that I can't stand are that ones that most others adore.

Dr. Crusher rocks. That is all I have to say about that, really. Oh wait, and she has amazing hair, even when the show gives her unflattering hairstyles.

People don't like Bev?

I never watched this until it ran on BBCA all the time (I know, I know, I fail at nerd), but I had no idea people didn't like her. :(
