I've come to the realization that I can ship Steve with pretty much anyone, but I can only ship Bucky with other people if Steve is there too.

*high five* Me too! Though I prefer slash ships for Steve. But I have read some good Steve/Bucky/FemaleCharacter fics.

I think I agree. At least, I haven't found anyone else that I can ship Bucky with. Although, I'd probably read Thor/Bucky if it were porn because I can read Thor/anyone. But actually shipping is just Steve/Bucky.

I could get into Thor/Bucky because that would be visually perfect for me - but as it is, I don't see it interaction-wise.

That's why I'd only read porn. I'll read porn fics if the characters are pretty even if I don't think they'd actually work in a relationship. Anything actually plotty and I don't think it would work for me.

Damn. I forgot I read and enjoyed some Bucky/Loki (and one Tony/Bucky/Loki) fics. That invalidates my agreement! ┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ︵ ┻━┻

I have read Tony/Bucky and Tony/Bucky/Steve and liked them, but those were pre-CA2 fics. I'm actually wondering if such a thing as Bucky/Bruce exists? They seem like they'd have a few things in common (supersoldier leftovers, used or tried to be used as weapons, long blackouts containing horrors), though they're risky for the same reason Bruce/Natasha is risky: if something goes wrong, it will go really wrong.

+1 Me too.

I can ship Steve with just about anyone except Sam or Tony (sorry, but the nastier and more obnoxious shippers killed what interest I had in those ships), but in order to ship Bucky with anyone, I need Steve to be in there as well.

Personally, I can only ship either of them with other people if Steve and Bucky continue to be (among) the most important people in each other's lives. That's why I've completely stopped reading MCU Bucky/Natasha and Steve/Tony: too many fics for those pairings make Steve and Bucky grow apart, or never regain their closeness after TWS, or etc., and I just...don't want to go there.

(Otoh, Steve/Sam tends to be good about showing that Steve and Bucky still matter to each other, especially if Bucky appears in the fic's character list, and Bucky/Sam is fantastic at this. I've had some good experiences with Steve/Natasha, Peggy/Steve, and Loki/Steve, as well, though I don't read those pairings regularly enough to know if that's typical of them or if I just got lucky.)
