Better hair (he looks better as a redhead) and a classic English cut, black suit. Yeah, his wax twin does look better.

The facial structure is different, too. The real Cumberbatch has more pronounced cheekbones.

I'm thinking the wax model is slightly smaller/narrower too? *squints* maybe just the angle of the picture....

Realbatch is geekier looking, that's the main difference. It's only when he's acting or has his promotions face on that he looks like his waxwork.

That he can change his face so much just by tensing/relaxing his facial muscles is why he's in demand as an actor.

Basically this - the figure has a very neutral face/look, while the real deal is an actor who is very facially expressive.

IA with your comment though! He has such a goofy expression in this picture (from this angle he almost looks like a grown up Colin Morgan!), and the wax figure is all relaxed and suave. Real people are not always suave, so of course he isn't going to be able to keep that expression. He does look similar in some photos, though.

(Also, hot damn is that an attractive wax figure. It's kind of weird how life-like these things have become...)

I feel like I'm seeing double and it's really creepy.

Sorry, OP, I disagree. I don't think the wax dummy does him justice at all.

Cumberbatch's wax duplicate still has his sharp looks from a year or two ago. Look at him next to it, he's the one slowly melting.

He sort of does look like he's melting. Or maybe like he was injected with earthworm DNA and it's slowly transforming him.

Maybe it's just me, but, aside from a different hairstyle and expression.... I'm not really seeing that much of a difference? Certainly not enough to say his wax double looks at all "better"?

Not sure about the secret so much as I dearly wish I could hear the conversation that was going on while he was taking that picture.
