I don't think she was putting it on, but then neither was Eeyore. It seems unfair to pick up on her natural expression, and she was genuinely an inspired baker.

She was a great baker, especially for her age. But... she did mope around SO MUCH, anon. It got old fast.

I can never get over the fact how hilariously serious everyone is about this... whole thing. A part of me just always goes, LMAO CAKES :D OMNOMONOM :P

And the way every scandal is a huge, nationwide event - mind-blowing.

The furore around Baked Alaskagate left me stunned, and I'm a fan of Bake Off.

Ugh, yes, it was so frustrating how she'd cry and moan about the least little thing and everyone would rush over to comfort her (which is probably why she did it). She was a good baker and could have gone as far as she did without the histrionics.


Though I did get more sympathetic towards her when all those really nasty rumours about her sleeping with Paul came out.

IA. It went beyond the occasional moan about something not turning out right, it became her Thing that she did every. single. time. Even when the judges told her not to undermine her own work like that. After a while, you could see how people would rush to reassure her and compliment her just to cheer her up. Nobody else in the entire bake off got that sort of special treatment.

It's probably partly editing of the show, but over the course of the series she grimaced and pulled so many weird faces I started to wonder if she had a facial tic of some kind. Oh, and I didn't notice any particular chemistry between her and Paul, unlike what the tabloids said.

Just no. I thought that her run was way too long. There are only a handful of people I hated as much as I hated her.
