I'm a feminist and I have no idea what this show is, so we're both bad feminists.

Looks like Outlander, maybe?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah it's Outlander.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't get the memo that not watching Outlander made you a Bad Feminist.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I think OP is saying that if you watch Outlander, you are supposed to prefer its sex scenes to GoT's.

nayrt

I think OP is saying that if you watch Outlander, you are supposed to prefer its sex scenes to GoT's.

I for one do! Except that for my money, the hottest scene was with Frank. You know the one.

You ever watched the Spartacus TV series? The male-female nudity ratio is a bit more equal and I thought their sex scenes were pretty nicely done.

Holy shit, there's someone in the world - nay, the entire universe - who finds the sex scenes in AGoT "hot" and not just "vaguely embarrassing".

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm kind of shocked too.

I've found some of them hot, but not most of them. And Outlander's first sex scene beats them all by a mile. That couldn't get me to keep watching the show, but the scene is scorchingly good.

Outlander:

I came for the femdom.

I stayed for the surprisingly interesting characters and lack of focus on the romance.

I will probably abandon ship because apparently the only way the writer can conceive to put the heroine in danger - SPOILERoranyoneelseforthatmatterSPOILER - is to threaten them with rape and it's getting reaaaalllllllllyyyy dull and tiresome.
philstar22: (Default)

Woops, sorry, book spoilers here

[personal profile] philstar22 2014-11-13 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Although it kind of intrigues me that it is the man that does get raped, though I hope the show handles it better than the book did.

Also, part of the reason I gave up is because I read spoilers about the book plot and know that Clair had the chance to return to the future and chose to stay behind. I could get behind it when she had to marry another man to have protection. But her choosing to stay made me lose interest.

Where does this have femdom? I didn't know that?

Are you just watching the show, or planning to read the books, and how much do you care about spoilers?

If you're only interested in the show and/or you don't want spoilers, the answer is: coming.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't watched it or read the books. I wasn't interested, but now I might be...

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
The sex scenes in Game of Thrones are hot?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
no.

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2014-11-13 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
So you don't like femdom. So what. That doesn't make you a bad anything, it just makes you not into the kink that this particular show caters to.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
TBH I'm more confused by you not finding the sex hot than anything else

I don't care for the show much and haven't watched it regularly, but damn, what I've seen is hot. If only I actually liked the characters or setting.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-13 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
If you "don't do romance-focused" media than why the hell would you even attempt to watch Outlander? It's based on a romance novel, ffs.

It's this Outlander? Let's be bad feminists together then. I think the book is crap, and there are certain.... *scenes* that I find indefensible, regardless of the morality of the "times". I'm not sure how they are going to translate them into the show, but I certainly don't want to find out.

(I haven't watched the show, so maybe they improved it. Did they?)
