...ok, I assumed it was short for "good game". I didn't even think about GamerGate being the "default" for "gg". But then I play too much YGO hahaha. it's part of everyday conversation basically.

either way, I don't think OP has anything to apologize for. we all have our things we associate with various shorthands.

It is short for 'good game', or at least that's how it's been used in the past! Now that Gamergate is the big thing I suppose people are using it more for that (or at least that's what OP believes?), but I'll always see it as 'good game'. I've never been much of an online gamer, but I've heard it whilst playing online. (I still think it's cool that you play YGO! All those shiny cards I wouldn't know what to do with.)
