So because you witnessed one person being an asshole you think all people who are religious are like that? That's really not been my experience - but then none of my religious friends are assholes. They treat people in general with respect.

I'm glad none of your religious friends are assholes. Unfortunately, I know quite a few religious people who are, but we're not friends.

Pretty sure anon was citing one anecdotal example of a person who didn't respect science despite benefiting from it indirectly, not implying that every single religious person in the world was a jerk.
