My grandfather...

...had a stroke this morning. My mother is flying up to visit him tonight. He doesn't recognise people, he's numb all down one side, and his speech is all slurred over the phone.

He's gotten very frail these last few years. It sounds pretty serious.

IDK. I haven't really felt much so far. I've mostly been comforting my mum. She's pretty upset.

It sounds like you might be in shock. Don't question your reaction too much. It's difficult to know how you'll respond and just because you don't feel anything at the moment doesn't mean you're doing something wrong.

I'm sorry you guys are going through this. I hope he recovers, but in the meantime don't worry about your reaction. Everyone reacts to grief, stress, etc. differently, and you're going through enough right now; don't beat yourself up about it.

It's great that your mother has you around for emotional support. I'm sure she appreciates it.
