(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)Of course there is. Frozen, for instance, I'm most attached too, but there's no denying it had repetitive dialogue, patchy storylines, etc.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)OF COURSE there are objective measurements in art! It feels pretty insulting to me to suggest that there aren't. Balance, color usage, linework, ect, there are actual metrics to measure them by. (exceptional artists can break the "rules" and make it work, but it's pretty rare that this actually happens)
You can enjoy any piece of art you want, no matter how good or bad it is. Some of my favorite movies are objectively terrible, but I love them anyway!...but I don't go around pretending that they aren't objectively terrible. What you LIKE and what is GOOD are two very different arguments. Stop confusing them.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-14 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)I get that there's aspects in art that appeal to different people, but pretending that it's all subjective and there's no objective good is ignoring all the hardwork artists put into their work and improving their craft.
