Since your main reason for going to Japan in the first place was because of fandom, doesn't that make you one of the 'wapanese' fanbrats you're complaining about? Just because you went there idolizing Japan and the Japanese and were met with a different reality than what you found in manga (gasp! anime/manga =/= reality) doesn't mean the whole country should disappear.

I don't know where in the west you live, but the western world is still largely prejudiced, homophobic, and chauvinistic in general. I don't know why you'd go to any country thinking it was an idealized place.

Yeah, and this is why if you go away on a student exchange or school-sponsered program (any level) they ask you if you're willing to try a completely different way of life, if you're a picky eater, if you're willing to try new things...etc. There's also usually culture shock prevention, to keep people from feeling like this.
