I like her strong! And not just in a "I can kick your ass" kind of way. She is also feminine. She wears dresses in her off time and is just a normal woman who can hang with the boys without being one of the boys and without being a victim of the boys. I don't want helpless sex kitten Riza dammit!

That's how she gets the respect that she does in the series, from Mustang and company. Because she's a strong woman in all aspects of it, I mean she gets Mustang, whose her superior, to listen to her a lot of the time. And like you said, she's still very much still a woman in her own right. I mean she's what.. one of a handful of women in the military? The highest ranking at least.
