That's understandable. If you like the person and want to converse with them about your fandom but they've moved on, of course you'll be a bit disappointed. It happens though.

You're allowed to feel however you want.

It hurts the most for me when fanartists leave the fandom. My fandom doesn't have too many good ones, so when I sees skilled fanartists moving on I feel terrible. This has already happened three times.

Oh god yeah. That sucks. There's an artist that drew characters for my main fandom so well, but they deleted their pixiv, and mostly post fanart for their new fandom on their twitter. They still occasionally post art for my main fandom, but it is pretty rare. I don't begrudge them for it, of courses, and I may actually check out the new show they're obsessed with. It wad just kind of a bummer.

ikr? One of my favorite fan artists used to draw a lot of the non-popular characters for a fandom I'm into. Then something happened that caused them to delete everything from their blog and DeviantArt all of a sudden. I still follow this fan artist in the hope that maybe they'll go back to this fandom in the future, but they've made it pretty clear they don't want anything to do with it anymore. :/

As long as you're not harassing them about it (which I'm sure you're not), I think this is fine. One of my main fandoms is extremely tiny, and I know that when someone stops posting a lot, it's impossible for me not to feel a bit sad.

I've had this experience when several of the best writers for my OTP rarepair (although in a big fandom) moved on to the more popular pairings in either that fandom or others.

Although these writers were so astounding that I'm just grateful they wrote the fics to start with and shared them with others.

It hurts, it does. I tried to move fandoms with one of them, in fact, but the writer had gone to Teen Wolf and that canon bores me to tears. American teens in a high school setting? Revolutionary! Especially since the fandom they left had much more of a variety of characters. You can tell it still stings me, but I don't blame the fic writer in the least.
