Nothing wrong with that, OP. Sometimes writing can be an exercise in catharsis, or a safe means of wrestling with the issues that occupy your thoughts.

I tried to kill myself many years ago. The doctor said it was a fluke I'm still alive. Often, I feel like I'm actually dead now and this is just kind of an afterimage.

I started writing a few years after the whole thing happened. I never thought of it before, but perhaps I am living now through my characters. I know that I feel much more alive when I'm writing than when forced back into my so-called real life, but I think this is a common enough feeling for writers?

I also remember that half hour when I was sure I was going to die, and the pure relief of it. I'll never forget it. I think it was the happiest I've ever been my whole life long. I cling to that feeling sometimes. It is possible to be happy, no matter how briefly.
