I finally got my degree this week. And now I'm sitting in front of this job application I need to get out in the next couple of days and am kind of despairing. Something my best friend said earlier sounded like she doesn't really think I'm capable of doing this job. My advisor and professor haven't replied to my question if they'd be willing to give me a reference (there's time still, but I'm freaking out a bit because I'll be so fucked if they don't).
I'm already full of self-doubts and none of this is helping with my motivation. :(

(Out of curiosity, are you the "Motivate me!" anon at the top of the page, or are there just a lot of unmotivated F!S'ers tonight?)

Also, your best friend may think she knows you well and may even be wishing the best for you, but she can't truly know what you're capable of, since most of us don't guess, ourselves, the extent of what can do until we do it. Fill out the application and let the potential employers be the judge of whether you can do the job.

Just get the job application out anyway. And then forget about it. And then look for other jobs to apply for and apply for them.

Not sure why your friend doesn't have a lot of faith in you for the job. Is it not related to your degree, or does your friend not know much about the job itself?

Yeah, I'm trying to do that. There just aren't that many jobs in my field of study, unfortunately.

Actually, my friend just knows that I had a few difficulties getting the degree, which is why what she said is getting to me. I'll just have to see how things go and maybe try to think up a plan B.
