Yeah, I think Days wrote themself into a corner with that pairing and didn't realize until it was too late. I know that James Scott has serious issues with how the aftermath was handled (I particularly remember him commenting about EJ and Sami being alone together in scenes after the fact).

They did at least actually address it once but I think at that point the writers sort of wanted to pretend it never happened because they had figured out it was a mistake if they wanted the EJami pairing to work.
