(Anonymous) 2014-11-16 01:01 am (UTC)(link)Weirdly enough, no, nobody I know has ever liked having their ways of fun criticized, no matter how they're doing it. And I have never made fun of "sportsball" or said pop music has toxic messages. I only typed this because OP seemed to imply that everybody in fandom (which is a lot of people) is doing it wrong.
Now, I mostly watch shows/movies, read fanfic, occasionally write it, and come to Fandom Secrets. Am I defensive about it? Yes, some, because some people seem to think their way is superior. I just think there are lots of ways to enjoy fandom and there isn't anything really wrong with most of them.
