regarding the gavin and michael thing, they constantly troll the shit out of each other and gavin fucks with the other guys so often that I'm pretty sure he doesn't harbor much of a grudge for the wet bread.

as for michael in general, he does insult the other guys a lot but they give as good as they get. a lot of the rage is his shtick for video commentary and he's comes across as a pretty nice person outside of it (his relation ship with his wife is adorable). I met him at RTX a while back and he's a sweetheart

That is Michael's character. He is the Rage Quit guy. So he plays that up just how Gavin plays up his stupidity and clumsiness. Or Ryan plays up his crazy persona.

One of the reasons Michael/Gavin is popular is because the guys sort of encourage it. They mention Mavin all the time, buy matching necklaces, always hang of one another, etc.

They also tease each other. Hence the wet bread.

While Michael seems to be the most "vocal" of the group, they're all kinda assholes. And I say that with legit affection! They all seem rather keen to intentionally prank, screw with, and curse each other out. Michael just loud and boisterous when it comes to expressing that. Also, of all the shit they've pulled on one another I've yet to see anything malicious. Dickish yes, but not malicious.

Everyone gives Gavin shit for the wet bread thing. A couple of them made their game sprays into a picture of wet bread to see Gavin wig out. Linsday also once suggested filling a bag of bread with water to freak Gavin out with but Michael told her that would probably be going too far (interestingly, he seemed to be the only person to think that. Geoff and co. were pretty game for it). It's not really out of genuine maliciousness; they just all fuck with each other and they're probably getting back at Gavin for the crap he gives them. It's the circle of dickery.

I really, really tried to get into RT, but yeah, between Michael and...basically everyone else, I just can't stand them. I've never been the trolling = friendship type, though, so maybe that's a huge part of it. If my friends did even half the shit that some of them do to each other, I'd be out of that group of friends so fast.

That's why I like Game Grumps so much. There's some friendly bickering, especially in vs. games, but you can tell there's an awful lot of affection between all of them.

I think RT is the same way. They fight a lot, but you can tell that Geoff and Gavin think the world of each other (Geoff let Gavin live with him for years and it got to the point where his daughter started including Gavin whenever she drew family portraits. There are also a weird amount of pictures floating around of Geoff and Gavin cuddling) and Gavin and Michael are pretty good friends too. Gavin was even in Micheal's wedding even though a year or so prior to said wedding he recanted a story on the RT podcast where he turned down the opportunity to be the best man at a close friend's wedding because he simply didn't want to put in the effort and didn't see the appeal. Even Jack and Gavin (who probably have some of the most seemingly mean spirited interactions on game commentary) seem to be good friends irl and Gavin was genuinely shocked when someone asked him if he really hated Jack.

OP... are you a girl? cause guys tend to fuck around with each other a lot more than girls do, I guess it probably comes off as abrasive or "mean" to people on the outside of it. the wet bread thing is funny, and Gavin really didn't seem to care.

The guys play up their characters in Lets Plays since they're for entertainment, so yeah, I can see how you'd get a bad impression from viewing one video. You can sort of glean a better idea of what they're like off Twitter? Michael was so excited to get a voice acting job on Fairy Tail and then proceeded to watch all the available episodes, it was kind of cute.
