God, this season has been lacking in Mills Sisters interactions. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to next episode though. Because I just know they'll make Jenny jealous because Hawley's shown an interest in Abbie. God, this season has been underwhelming.

This season has been lacking in almost everything but Katrina/Ichabod drama and Abraham and Henry fuckery. It's gotten frustrating as of late, but I don't think this season started off bad. Hopefully it picks up soon; I don't have unlimited patience.

I read an interview with Nicole that made it seem like Hawley/Abbie wasn't going to actually happen (at least not anytime soon), so I'm hoping that means we won't get a jealousy storyline with the sisters. That would be terrible.

Last episode showcased everything that was wrong with this season. The lack of focus on Abbie and Ichabod as witnesses, the Crane Family Drama, pushing Abbie aside for said family drama, Hawley being interested in Abbie. No Irving or Jenny. And probably more, but that's I can't remember all my thoughts on it because all I'm remembering is the frustration.

I think it is going to happen. Jenny's reaction to seeing Hawley with Abbie a couple episodes aho put me on alert. Hawley confirming his interest in her last episode just made me realize it is coming.

IA. As someone who usually likes Ichabod and respects that he is married to Katrina (so of course they're going to have scenes together), this season has been wayyyyyy too focused on them. Right now it doesn't even feel so much like an apocalypse is upcoming, it feels like this is Crane's story, and everything in the show comes back to him. Which...again, I like Crane, but Abbie is just as important. The lack of Irving and Jenny has been criminal; the show isn't half as enjoyable when Crane, Katrina and Hawley take up the majority of the screen-time.

You know, I'm not even vehemently against the idea of them together (just because Abbie deserves some happiness too, and if she wants to have a little fun she should), but with Hawley in particular... Yea, I don't want any tension or jealousy between the sisters. Jenny barely shows up as is, so please don't make their interactions about a guy.

I'm in totally agreement. I respect the fact that Ichabod is married to Katrina and that their relationship is an important part of his storyline..and that Katrina I'd an important character, but so is Abbie. And yet Abbie feels like a secondary character because there's so much focus on them. And the fact that this whole family drama and Hawley, have taken up most of the screentime, to the detriment of other characters, is beyond frustrating. Especially aince it means that Jenny and Irving have been given fuckall to do for the most part.

There's no sense of urgency anymore. It is like the apocolypse itself has takrn a backseat to the Crane Family Drama. I mean, sure, Katrina almost died and birthed Moloch, but there's been lityle else going on with regards to the apocalypse this season. Heney's been doing a lot of small shit. We've barely seen his Armor dude in action. And The Headless Horseman has been reduced to a neutered, lovelorn shadow of his former self. There's no menace from him anymore. Hr has effectively been defanged.

Tbh, I'd love for Abbie to find happiness. I don't think happiness automatically means getting together with someone* so I'd rather her stay single though. Maybe find happiness through her new relationship with her sister. Catching up on everything that they've missed our on when they can while fighting the good fight. And while I like Hawley, I don't want him to be anywhere near a romantic relationship with Abbie. Especially if it will just bring jealousy and conflict between the sisters.

*I don't think you do either. Sorry if it came off that way.

No sense of urgency is a great way to put it. It does feel like the show cares more about Ichabod and his family than the actual apocalypse. It's very strange because when the show started Abbie and Ichabod felt equally important, there were several fantastic secondary characters that got their own share of screen-time, but now almost everything I liked about the show has been put on the back-burner. There isn't much charm in a show with only Crane family drama. There are still good moments, but they tend to be centered around Abbie.

From the moment the show made The Headless Horseman in love with Katrina I knew shit was going to get bad, but even back then I never imagined that would be pretty much the only thing I associated him with. It's very boring.

I understand! And I agree, I only meant that if the show wants to pair her up with someone, I'm okay with it as long as it doesn't take over (like Ichabod/Katrina) or mess up the relationship between the Mills. It would probably be better if they never go there at all (and, as you say, there's plenty of ways Abbie could achieve happiness that have nothing to do with sex or romance), but I'm bracing myself for it. This show clearly likes romance, even if they don't write it well.

It really feels as if I'm watching a different show. The show I loved in the first season has been replaced with a supernatural soap opera, to quote another anon on this secret. The first season had a healthy focus both Abbie and Ichabod individually and as a team. Not to mention the fantastic way they handled Irving and Jenny, putting focus on them and fleshing them out. No onetook a backseat to anyone else's storyline. It wasn't without its flaws, but the first season was a wonderful blend of cheese, fantastic characters, and interesting drama. I'm barely getting any of this season. Everything is tossed aside for Crane family drama.

I didn't so much remind that reveal, but fuck, if I had known what it would lead to. Ugh, he used to be so cool, with his shotgun and awesome horse.

I'm okay with it to as long as it doesn't take over the show. Unfortunately, Ichabod/Katrina and their dama have taken over. So I really don't think the writers could make sure that Abbie's hypothetical new relationship out of central focus. Then again, they might, considering how Abbie is basically a secondary character these days. If Abbie absolutely has yo be in a relationship with anyone, I'd rather it be Corbin's son or damn near anyone else on the show that isn't Hawley.

This is what I miss the most. Which isn't to say I don't miss Jenny and Irving as well, but damn, Ichabod and Abbie being adorable bros is what attracted me to this show in the first place. The supporting cast def helped, but now the interesting and fun characters don't have anything to do. (How many times can Katrina be kidnapped and almost killed in a season? Ugh, why won't you do something half decent with her... If you won't, leave her be for a bit.)

I couldn't overcome 'everything comes back to Crane and his family', which as mentioned is ten times worse this season. :/ Didn't like that Henry was Crane's kid either, but obviously there's no going back on that now. The universe feels much smaller than it should because of it.

I do feel you, though I'm struggling to come up with anyone else she could be paired with... (And who knows if we'll see Corbin's son again anytime soon. Doubt it, with the way things are going. At one point I thought this show was all about Abbie with a side dish of Crane, and I miss that feeling.)

I miss that a lot too. Admittedly, it wasn't what attracted me to the series in the first place. Having a black female lead and two supporting black characters was what attracted me. I'm black so it means a lot to me. It is quite rare to see and their characters were so great, so it sucks to see. hem all shafted for Crane Family Drama. Don't get me wrong, I like almost all of the characters in the series and the relationship between Ichabod and Abbie was fantastic. But those were my main readon for getting in. Plus, Orlando Jones.

And it absolutely sucks that they've got no idea what to do with Katrina as a character. She could be a legimately awesome character, but they're wasting her. She's been almost killed twice this season? She barely has anything to do. She is stuck in that cabin again. Which, fine, she could be a great spy for the Witnesses sake but so far, she doesn't use it to her full potential. And it seems to be used mostly as a way for The Headless Horseman to moon over her. Plus, she eavesdrops like a five year old.

You know, I enjoyed Ichabod being tied to every major historical figure of the Revolution days. It means we got awesome commentary, like that bit in season one about Jefferson owning slaves and fathering children with Sally Hemings. Ichabod's view of him being shattered was hilarious. Or that Franklin was a bit of dick who was full of himself. And I still enjoy his ties to historical figures, but it does feel like everything is tied to just him amd Katrina. The universe does feel smaller.

Maybe they could bring Luke back? I liked him well enough. But yeah, I miss how Abbie was a central character. And god, I didn't realize just how many thoughts I had on this show. I'm not obsessed with it. I just watch it week to week so I didn't think I'd be this disappointed/frustrated with it

That's as good a reason as any! And you're right, Sleepy Hollow does indeed have a solid, diverse cast and it was delightful and different... Until those actors got shafted. I see where you're coming from, and most the fandom seems to feel the same. I hope the writers have something interesting in store for the latter part of this season, because if this keeps up I wouldn't be surprised if the show was canceled. It isn't the same.

It is frustrating because like you said, she could be awesome! There's plenty of exciting things you could do with a witch, but she's got none of that. Her spying is indeed sad, and she rarely does anything helpful. We keep hearing how powerful and efficient she is, but we aren't seeing it. It's dumb.

I too enjoy the fun commentary on historical figures that Ichabod provides, it's the apocalypse being linked back to him and his past time and time again that begins to wear on me. Not everyone could be in on this shit...

Oh, I almost forgot about Luke! He was cute. They could do something with that, and now I wish he would show back up again (hasn't it been since last season?). I won't hold my breath, though.

Sleepy Hollow is one of those shows I don't think of a lot when I'm not watching it, but I enjoy it deeply (or at least I DID) and it tends to be one of the few shows I'm always up to date on. If I'm backed up on TV, I'll usually catch up with it first; it was great fun. I've been complaining about it to my mother, but other than reblogging a post here and there I'm not part of the fandom. My enthusiasm on this topic is slightly unexpected as well.

Agreed - I'm so sick of the Crane family drama. I wish Henry would just GO AWAY, he was a completely unnecessary addition. Katrina's one of my favourite characters, and it hurts to see her get ripped on all the time.

I do ship Katrina/Abraham (I know it's wrong), Abby/Hawley and Jenny/Irving. I WOULD have shipped Ichabod/Caroline, but the writers fucked that up.

I actually liked Henry as an addition tbh. And I would mind so much that the characters, particularly Ichabod and Katrina, have a hard time dealing with the fact their son is a Horsemand and working for Moloch. I just wish it was handled better and wasn't center show. It could be for a good subplot, not the main deal of the season.

I misd Caroline. She could have been a great reccuring character.

I didn't really get an impression of jealousy from Jenny so much as I read her reaction as a sort of protective "I know exactly what kind of person you are, so stay the fuck away from my sister".
