I do this. I've always assumed that most people do.

Well, if those media were a big part of your life, it sort of makes sense you do it.

Everyone measures life by something. Seems like media (especially music) is one of the most common, along with style and social stuff. This is mostly for earlier years before you're likely to use location or employment.

For some reason, I quite like how this secret is set up. Font could be a bit clearer, but other than that, I really like it. /random

People've been doing this for a very long time, OP, there's nothing strange about it in the least.

I mean, "the song that was playing when we first met/kissed" thing is a trope all by itself.

I think most people at least do this with music. I don't think it's unusual at all.

That is just sort of how peoples brains work. If you didn't associate all those things you wouldn't remember anything.

People define most of their childhood by media and products.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
This isn't unusual. I think a lot more people do this stuff more than you think.

Nah, I'm the same way. Pretty sure most of my friends are, if I'm honest.

I do the same thing. I do it with shows, books, music, pretty much everything I consume. I like it, because it helps me form a more concrete picture of a particular time in my life.

I used to date everything in my life as "pre- or post-Star Wars."

Doesn't most everyone do this? I absolutely associate media with what was going on in my life when I first discovered it (though if those connections make me uncomfortable for some reason I can work at disassociating them). I thought it was pretty common.
