DA - Well, Sarah Lund isn't a cheerful person. She's not a very likeable person, she doesn't seem to have many friends and she's driven by her obsession with the crime to the point of damaging her relationship with her boyfriend and her own son. She's really interesting to me as a character, but she's not someone I'd want to hang out with, necessarily.

To be honest, I find that really refreshing to see a female lead like this. Media has plenty of male lead detectives who do the exact same thing (usually with more booze involved) but not many women. It's a slight change up of the trope.

I found Sarah Lund as a female lead really refreshing too. So many female characters aren't allowed to make mistakes or be an unlikable person, like you said.
Her character is also allowed to carry the show entirely herself. I can't think of a single American show like that.
Over here, you just get stuff like True Detective.
