Hmm well I suppose that's a point.

But then again, I guess it's just...why does it matter? Will getting mad at them , mock them and make assumptions about what they do in other comms really do anything to change their mind?

Like I know the whole spiel of "I have a right to disagree" and all but, really what difference will all this reaction make to OP?

Sure we probably won't convince them to change (and we certainly won't like this) but why not instead of angry offense we can approach OP explaining why we are so interested in this and what we get out of it?

Might result in more interesting conversation, than just reactionary wanking. and even if we don't change their mind, couldn't it be fun to have a huge discussion about why we ship, and come up with theories and do the fannish things we do, and what we get out of it?

I doubt either side would want to have that discussion. I know I don't like trying to defend my interests to people who are already judging me for them, and if someone doesn't like something, especially if they express that dislike in the way that OP has, they won't want to hear people talk about why they enjoy that thing.

What difference will any reaction make? And where the fuck are you for every single other secret where the majority of commenters disagree and voice that disagreement strongly? What is it about this one thing that's made you go "omg guys you shouldn't be expressing yourselves this way because it's a secrets site so blah blah blah?"

It clearly matters to OP if they went to the trouble of making their opinion known in a fandom community that they think personally that fandom is pointless.

I find that totally pointless and irrelevant. YMMV.
